The method.
Most rejected ads and suspended accounts in regulated niches come from rules nobody checked before launch. This map lists the Google Ads and Meta policies that most often apply to specific kinds of businesses, what each requires, and where Google or Meta states it.
Every rule was read on the official Google Ads policy center or Meta Transparency Center page on the date shown. Policies change often and vary by country, so treat this as a starting checklist for US advertisers and confirm on the linked page before you launch.
Some rules apply only to part of a business type, for example the Meta financial category applies to a car dealer only when the ad promotes financing. The rule text says when that is the case.
About this tool.
- Which industries need Google Ads certification?
- In the US, certification applies to areas such as online pharmacies and telemedicine, addiction treatment services and some health insurance advertisers, and US locksmiths and garage door services need advanced verification for Local Services. The map shows which rules apply to your business type and links the official page for each.
- What are Meta special ad categories?
- Categories Meta requires advertisers to declare for ads about housing, employment, financial products and services, and social issues, elections or politics. Declaring one limits targeting, for example no ZIP codes, no lookalike audiences and fixed age and gender options in the US.
- Can I use remarketing for a medical or cosmetic business?
- Google limits personalized advertising in sensitive interest categories, including health, which Google says covers cosmetic surgery and injections. That blocks remarketing, Customer Match and similar segments for those ads, so plan campaigns around search intent instead.
- How current is this?
- Each rule shows the date it was checked against the official page. We recheck the map quarterly, and you should confirm on the linked page before launching, because Google and Meta update policies often.
- Is this legal advice?
- No. It summarizes platform advertising policies. Licensing, advertising law and professional rules for your field still apply, so check those with your counsel or licensing body.
