Google Local Services Ads management for contractors and law firms.
We run Google Local Services Ads for contractors and law firms, from the first verification packet to the weekly lead review.
That covers Google Guaranteed for home services and Google Screened for legal and other professional services, the background and license checks, job types and service areas, bidding, and the reviews that sit on the profile. Theory Road holds Local Services Ads management access, so we work inside your account rather than asking for your password. The part most agencies skip is what happens after the phone rings: we pull every LSA call, message and booking into your CRM with the source intact, so you can see which leads became jobs or signed cases and judge the channel on revenue, not lead count.

Next: name, email and budget. That’s it.
Where Google Local Services Ads pays off, and where it stalls.
Local Services Ads sit above the regular search ads for many service searches and you pay per lead, not per click. A lead is a phone call, a message or a booking request that Google judges valid for a job type you offer, in an area you serve. Home service trades earn the Google Guaranteed badge, while lawyers, financial planners and similar professions earn Google Screened. Both require a business background check, license verification where the trade or state requires it, and in many categories checks on the owner and field staff. Nothing runs until verification clears.
Most accounts we inherit stall in the same places. Verification drags for weeks because a license name does not match the business name or an insurance document is expired. Job types and service areas are left on defaults, so the account pays for leads it cannot serve. Nobody answers the phone quickly, and responsiveness is one of the signals Google uses to decide who shows. Invalid leads are never reviewed. Worst of all, LSA leads live only in the LSA dashboard, so nobody can say which ones turned into a job, and the budget is judged on a gut feeling.
We start with the profile: correct categories, every job type you actually want, service areas drawn to where your crews or attorneys will go, accurate hours, and a plan for reviews on the LSA profile. Then we set bidding, starting on Maximize leads to learn the market and moving to a max per lead cap once we know what a lead is worth. Each week we review every lead, rate it and flag the invalid ones. Finally we connect the account through the Google Ads API so every LSA lead lands in your CRM, then pair it with Search campaigns where coverage is thin.

Local Services Ads management, scoped to the result.
Verification and onboarding
We assemble the license, insurance and business documents, walk owners and staff through the background checks, and fix name mismatches before they stall approval for Google Guaranteed or Google Screened.
Profile, job types and service areas
We choose categories and job types that match the work you want, draw service areas by ZIP or radius around real crews, and set hours so leads only arrive when someone can answer.
Bidding and budget management
We run Maximize leads or a max per lead cap depending on data, pace the weekly budget, pause job types that do not close, and shift spend toward the categories that produce booked work.
Lead review and disputes
Every lead gets listened to or read, rated and marked booked or not. Leads outside your job types or areas are flagged so Google can credit them where the category allows.
CRM and call tracking sync
We pull LSA calls, messages and bookings through the Google Ads API into HubSpot, GoHighLevel, JobNimbus, Clio Grow or your intake system, tagged with job type and source.
LSA plus Search coordination
We run Google Search campaigns alongside LSA for terms and areas LSA does not cover, add negative terms where the two overlap, and report both on cost per booked job.
Where Google Local Services Ads setups break.
The problems we are most often hired to fix, in the order they tend to cost money.
Verification stuck on a mismatch
The legal name on the license, the insurance certificate and the Google Business Profile do not match, so verification loops for weeks. Fixing the paperwork first is faster than resubmitting and waiting.
Default job types and giant areas
Accounts left on every job type and a wide radius pay for small repair calls and far away leads the business turns down. Each unwanted lead still counts toward spend until it is credited.
Slow or missed answers
Calls go to voicemail and messages sit overnight. Google weighs responsiveness when choosing which providers to show, so a slow team loses placement and the leads that do arrive go cold.
Leads never leave the dashboard
Without a sync, nobody knows which LSA leads became jobs or signed clients. Budget decisions get made on lead count, and good job types get cut alongside bad ones.

Looker Studio
Weekly dashboard of LSA leads, credits, booked jobs and cost per booked job.
From audit to running it.
Audit.
We review verification status, job types, service areas, hours, bidding mode, review count, lead history and how many leads were invalid, then show where money went to leads you could not use.
Fix or build.
We clear verification blockers, rebuild job types and service areas, set bidding and budget, and write a simple answering standard your team can follow for calls and messages.
Connect.
We sync LSA leads into your CRM through the Google Ads API, tag source and job type, and send booked outcomes back so reporting shows jobs, not just leads.
Run or hand over.
We manage the account weekly, reviewing and rating leads and adjusting bids, or we hand over a documented setup and a checklist your office manager can run each week.
A good fit
- Contractors and home service companies eligible for Google Guaranteed who want more booked jobs from the top of search.
- Law firms in eligible practice areas that want Google Screened leads flowing straight into their intake system.
- Businesses already running LSA that cannot say which leads turned into jobs, signed clients or revenue.
- Owners who can commit to answering calls and messages quickly during the hours the ads run.
Probably not a fit
- Businesses in categories or cities where Local Services Ads are not offered; Search and local SEO fit better there.
- Companies without the required license or insurance, since Google will not approve the profile until those are in place.
- Teams that cannot answer the phone during business hours; fix staffing or answering first, then buy leads.
Pricing, plainly.
Google charges Local Services Ads per lead, not per click, and the price of a lead varies by category, job type and market. There is no separate fee for the Google Guaranteed or Google Screened badge itself. You set a weekly budget and Google paces spend against it, and valid leads are billed while invalid ones can be credited. Our work is scoped after a short call: a fixed-scope setup or audit covering verification, profile, bidding and the CRM sync, then monthly management billed separately from your ad spend, or a documented hand-over to your team. Monthly management runs month to month after an initial term.

Hiring help with Google Local Services Ads.
- What is the difference between Google Guaranteed and Google Screened?
- Google Guaranteed is the badge for home service trades such as roofers, plumbers and cleaners, and it comes with a Google backed guarantee on qualifying jobs booked through the ad. Google Screened is the badge for professional services such as lawyers and financial planners. Both require background and license checks, and both are billed per lead.
- How do Local Services Ads lead disputes work now?
- Google reviews leads and, in many categories, credits invalid ones automatically, such as spam, wrong numbers or job types you do not offer. In some categories you can still flag a lead for review. Rules have changed several times, so we check the current options in your account and rate every lead either way, since ratings feed Google better signals.
- What affects how often my Local Services Ads show?
- Google has said ranking considers your proximity to the searcher, your review score and number of reviews, your responsiveness to calls and messages, your business hours, and whether you have complaints against the business. Budget and bid matter too. Answering quickly and keeping reviews coming are the two levers most businesses control directly.
- Can you send our LSA leads into our CRM automatically?
- Yes. We use the Google Ads API to read Local Services leads and create contacts, deals or jobs in HubSpot, GoHighLevel, JobNimbus, ServiceTitan, Clio Grow and similar systems, with job type and source attached. Where an API route is not available, we fall back to scheduled exports so nothing depends on someone copying leads by hand.
- Should we run Local Services Ads or regular Google Search ads?
- Usually both. LSA tends to win on cost per lead for the job types it covers, but it limits which services and areas you can target and gives you little control over wording. Search campaigns fill gaps: services LSA does not list, higher value jobs, and areas outside your LSA reach. We report both on cost per booked job.
- Are you a certified Google Partner for Local Services Ads?
- No. Theory Road is an independent firm. We hold a Google Ads manager account and Local Services Ads management access, which lets us work inside your account without your password, but we are not a Google Partner. That means we recommend budget and job types based on what books work for you, not on spend targets.
