YouTube ads built for the first five seconds and measured past the view.

We run YouTube advertising through our own Google Ads manager account for brands, lead generation businesses and local service companies: video campaigns for reach, Demand Gen for conversions, in-stream, in-feed and Shorts placements, and the audience and measurement setup that tells you whether YouTube is changing results or just collecting views.

Step 1 of 2

How can we help you get found?

What do you need help with?

Next: name, email and budget. That’s it.

YouTube is bought in Google Ads, so it can use the same conversion tracking, customer lists and search signals as your Search and Performance Max campaigns. The hard part is creative. Viewers can skip most ads after five seconds, many watch on phones with the sound low, and more now watch on a TV across the room. We build videos and campaigns around those facts, then read results against leads, orders and search demand, not view counts.

How YouTube Ads really works

Where YouTube Ads pays off, and where it stalls.

YouTube ads are created in Google Ads using videos hosted on YouTube, public or unlisted. Skippable in-stream ads play before, during or after other videos and can be skipped after five seconds. Non-skippable in-stream and six-second bumper ads buy guaranteed attention for reach. In-feed video ads show in search results, the home feed and next to related videos, and the viewer chooses to watch. Shorts ads run between Shorts in the vertical feed. Google groups these into campaign types by goal: video campaigns for reach and views, and Demand Gen, which at the time of writing is Google's main conversion-focused option across YouTube, Discover and Gmail after it moved older video action campaigns into it.

Most YouTube spend that disappoints fails in one of three places. The creative saves the point for the end, so the viewer skips before learning what is being sold, or it depends on narration that muted viewers never hear. The targeting is left wide open or stacked with so many layers that the campaign cannot spend. And measurement stops at views and clicks, when YouTube's effect often shows up later as branded search, direct visits and conversions that another channel claims. Owners conclude YouTube does not work when the test was never set up to see it.

We treat YouTube as the top of a search-driven funnel. Creative is built for the first five seconds, for sound off, and vertical where Shorts matter, with the brand and the problem in view early and a clear next step. Audiences come from your customer lists, your site visitors and custom segments built from the searches your buyers make. Campaign types match the goal: reach in video campaigns, leads and sales in Demand Gen with enhanced conversions and CRM data behind it. Then we measure lift, with engaged-view and view-through conversions kept separate, geo or holdout tests where budget allows, brand lift studies when the account qualifies, and branded search tracked alongside.

YouTube advertising, scoped to the result.

Scope it with us →
  • Video creative for the feed

Scripts, cutdowns and edits built for the first five seconds, for sound off and on, in horizontal, square and vertical formats, from existing footage, UGC or a planned shoot.

  • Demand Gen and video campaigns

Campaign type, bidding and budget chosen by goal, with Demand Gen for leads and sales and video campaigns for efficient reach, frequency and views.

  • Shorts, in-feed and in-stream

Placement and format planning across Shorts, in-feed and skippable or bumper in-stream ads, with separate creative where a placement needs it.

  • Audiences from real signals

Customer Match lists, site and channel visitors, custom segments built from your buyers' searches and competitor terms, plus exclusions for customers and unsuitable content.

  • YouTube for local services

Radius and ZIP targeting around your service area, short videos showing the crew, the work and the offer, and follow-up through search and Local Services Ads.

  • Measurement and lift

Conversion tracking with enhanced conversions, engaged-view and view-through reported separately, branded search trends, geo or holdout tests and brand lift studies where eligible.

What usually goes wrong

Where YouTube Ads setups break.

The problems we are most often hired to fix, in the order they tend to cost money.

  • Making the viewer wait

An ad that saves the brand, problem or offer for the end loses most viewers at the skip button. Put the hook and the brand in the first five seconds and repeat the point visually.

  • Designing for sound only

Many people watch muted or on a TV across the room. If the message needs narration to make sense, it does not land. Use large text, clear visuals and captions.

  • Judging YouTube on clicks

Few people click video ads, especially on TV screens. YouTube's effect often shows up later in branded search and direct traffic. Measure with lift tests and blended results, not click-through rate.

  • Counting views as results

Cheap views and loose view-through conversions can make a campaign look busy without changing sales. Keep engaged-view and view-through numbers separate and compare against a baseline.

How an engagement runs

From audit to running it.

  1. Audit.

We review past video spend, creative, audiences and tracking, check how YouTube is being credited, and set goals for reach, conversions or lift.

  2. Build.

We write or edit the first creative set, build audiences and campaigns, and set up enhanced conversions and offline conversion imports where needed.

  3. Connect.

YouTube results report beside Search, Performance Max and CRM data, with branded search trends and a holdout or geo test plan to read lift.

  4. Run or hand off.

We run creative testing and campaigns for you each month, working alongside your team, or build the system and hand it off with training.

A good fit

  • Brands already winning on search that need more people to search for them in the first place.
  • Local service companies with a clear service area and a crew or process worth showing on camera.
  • Product and subscription brands with a demonstrable product and room in the budget for creative testing.
  • Companies willing to judge YouTube on lift and blended results, not clicks alone.

Probably not a fit

  • If search campaigns and conversion tracking are not working yet, fix them first; YouTube is hard to judge without them.
  • Very small budgets spread across reach, Shorts and conversions at once rarely produce readable results.
  • If you need a large-scale commercial production, hire a production company; we build performance creative and can work with your producer.
What it costs

Pricing, plainly.

YouTube ads are bought in Google Ads and billed by Google to your account, with no separate platform fee. Depending on the campaign you pay for views, impressions or clicks, with bidding toward conversions where the campaign supports it. Brand lift studies have eligibility and spend requirements set by Google that change over time, so we check them in your account. Video production, where needed, is scoped separately, from edits of existing footage to planned shoots. Our work starts with a fixed-scope audit or setup covering creative, audiences and measurement. Ongoing management is a monthly fee scoped to spend and creative volume, month to month after an initial term. We do not mark up media.

Questions

Hiring help with YouTube Ads.

Do YouTube ads work for local service businesses?
They can, when the service area is clear and the video shows real people and real work. We target by radius or ZIP around your area, keep ads short, and pair YouTube with search and Local Services Ads so viewers who search later can find you. We judge it on calls, booked jobs and branded search in your area.
What is the difference between in-stream, in-feed and Shorts ads?
In-stream ads play before, during or after other videos, and skippable ones can be skipped after five seconds. In-feed ads appear in search results and feeds, and the viewer chooses to watch. Shorts ads run between Shorts in the vertical feed. Each needs creative shaped for how people watch there.
What is Demand Gen?
Demand Gen is a Google Ads campaign type for conversions and consideration that runs across YouTube, including Shorts and in-stream, and Google's Discover and Gmail feeds. At the time of writing it is where Google has moved conversion-focused video campaigns. It uses your images and videos, audience signals and lookalike segments, and it needs solid conversion tracking to optimize well.
How do you make ads people do not skip?
We open with the problem, the result or a person, not a logo sequence, show the brand early, design for sound off with captions and large text, and test several hooks against the same body. Some viewers will always skip; the goal is that the brand and message land before they do.
How do you measure YouTube ads?
We track conversions with enhanced conversions and CRM imports, keep engaged-view and view-through conversions separate from click conversions, watch branded search and direct traffic, and run geo or holdout tests when budget allows. Google brand lift studies are an option for accounts that meet Google's eligibility requirements.
Do we need to hire a production company?
Not always. Many strong YouTube ads are built from phone footage, customer videos, screen recordings and existing brand footage, edited for the feed. For bigger shoots we write the brief and scripts and work with your producer or a crew we coordinate, so the footage is shot with ad cutdowns in mind.
