When an "Other" row shows up in your Amazon Associates Tracking ID report, the cause is almost always one of five things: one or more tracking IDs had too little activity in the date range to be shown on their own, the date range is short or still in progress so it is cut into small low-volume slices, you are reading a downloaded or API report where Amazon combines the hidden values into an Others row, your traffic is spread across many tags that each sell a handful of items, or you are comparing a rolling window that mixes a finished month with a partial one. It is not a site, a stolen tag or a tracking error. You confirm it by checking that the visible rows plus Other equal the account total, then you read per-tag revenue from a full completed calendar month instead of a rolling 30 days.
Amazon Associates attributes every click and order to the tracking ID in the link (the tag parameter, such as yourstore-20 or a sub-tag like yoursite-guides-20). The Tracking ID Report in Associates Central shows clicks, items ordered, shipped revenue and earnings for each tag. Amazon's own reporting FAQ says that when traffic volume is low for a given row, some values are hidden and shown as a dash, those hidden values are combined into an "Others" row in download reports, and the Others row "aggregates all metrics for which there was not sufficient data volume to display in individual rows." In other words, Other is a privacy floor, not a property.
The five reasons a tag lands in Other.
We run several affiliate publishers of our own, each with its own set of tracking IDs, and we hit this the first month we split tags by site and by page type. The pattern has been consistent.
- Low volume per tag: a tracking ID with only a few ordered items in the selected window falls under Amazon's display floor, so its clicks, items and revenue move into Other
- Short or partial date ranges: Today, Yesterday, Last 7 Days and a month that is still in progress cut each tag's activity into smaller slices, and small slices are the ones that get hidden
- Download and API reports: Amazon states the Others row appears in Associates Central downloads and Creators API reports, so an export can show Other even when the on-screen view shows dashes instead
- Too many thin tags: splitting traffic across dozens of tracking IDs means each one sells less, so more of them sit below the floor at the same time
- Rolling windows across a month boundary: a Last 30 Days view mixes a completed month with a partial one, and the partial part keeps feeding Other while small tags look frozen
How to verify Other is masked data and not a missing site.
Do not start by hunting for a tag you forgot. Check the arithmetic first. Three checks, in this order.
The on-screen Tracking ID Report. In Associates Central, open Reports, choose the Tracking ID view, and set a date range. Look for dashes in place of numbers on small tags. Amazon documents the dash as a value hidden because volume was low. Note the account totals at the top.
The downloaded report. Use Download Reports from the Earnings Report for the same date range and open the tracking ID file. Add every visible row and the Others row. In our accounts the sum has matched the account total exactly in every window we have tested, which is what Amazon's FAQ describes when it says totals "remain accessible." If your sum is short, you have a real data problem, not masking.
The same report for a completed month. Switch the date selector to last month, or a custom date range covering the full calendar month. If Other shrinks sharply and your small tags reappear with item counts, you have confirmed the cause. In our accounts a completed month came back nearly fully unmasked, with Other holding a handful of items in one month and a single item the next.
Diagnose top to bottom.
This is the order we use. Each step rules out one layer so you stop at the first real answer.
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Other row in the Tracking ID report | Low-volume tags hidden for privacy | Read a completed calendar month |
| Dashes instead of numbers on small tags | Value below Amazon's display floor | Widen the date range |
| Other appears in the download but not on screen | Others row is a download and API feature | Use the download only for totals |
| Small tag's items frozen mid-month while Other grows | Partial month split into small slices | Wait for month end, then re-run |
| A tag you use is missing entirely | Zero clicks in the window | Check the links on that site carry the tag |
| Other is bigger on Last 30 Days than last month | Rolling window includes a partial month | Compare full months only |
| Today shows zero earnings | Reporting lag, earnings shown through yesterday | Check the refresh time, look again tomorrow |
| Rows plus Other do not equal the total | A real data issue, not masking | Re-download, then contact Associates support |
What is normal and what is a red flag.
Normal: an Other row on any window shorter than a full month, dashes on tags that sell a few items, Other growing through the current month, and a download that shows an Others row the screen does not. Amazon does not publish the exact volume threshold. In our accounts, tags with fewer than roughly five to seven ordered items in a window tended to be hidden, and tags with low-click days were hidden on those days. Treat that as an observation, not a rule, since Amazon can change it.
Also normal, and documented by Amazon: most reports update hourly, most orders are reported within three hours of being placed, earnings are current only through the previous day, and an account can hold up to 100 tracking IDs. Commissions are paid roughly 60 days after the end of each month, which is another reason to judge sites on completed months.
Red flags: visible rows plus Other that do not add up to the account total, a completed month where a busy site's tag still reads as a dash, or a tag that disappears for a month while its site still gets traffic. Those point to a real tagging or reporting issue. We treat affiliate reporting the same way we treat ad platforms in our conversion tracking audit checklist: reconcile the totals first, then argue about the split.
Reading true per-site revenue.
For a per-site or per-channel revenue number you can act on, use one rule: read completed calendar months, never a rolling 30 days. A completed month is evaluated as one block per tag, so most tags clear the floor and Other shrinks to a few items. A rolling window or the current month keeps feeding small slices into Other and makes your smaller sites look worse than they are.
If you need finer detail than Amazon will show, measure clicks on your side. Log outbound Amazon clicks by page in your analytics, then divide each site's completed-month Amazon revenue across its pages by click share. It is an estimate, but it is stable and it does not depend on Amazon's floor. Networks that support server-to-server callbacks are easier, which we cover in affiliate postback URL setup. Amazon is not one of them, so first-party click logs are the substitute.
Brands selling on Amazon face a related gap from the other side. If you drive outside traffic to your own listings, Amazon Attribution and the Brand Referral Bonus give you campaign-level data, and the reasons ad platforms and store backends never agree are the same ones we walk through in why ad platforms and Shopify report different conversions.
What is the Other tracking ID in Amazon Associates?
It is not a tracking ID you created or a site linking to you. Amazon uses an Others row to hold the clicks, items and earnings for rows that did not have enough volume to show individually. The values still count toward your account total and your payment.
Is someone else using my Amazon affiliate tag?
An Other row is not evidence of that. Check that your visible tag rows plus Other equal the account total. If they do, Other is your own low-volume activity. Unknown sites using your tag would show up as clicks under your tags, not as a separate Other row.
Why does the Other row get smaller when I pick last month?
A completed month gives each tag its full month of volume, so more tags clear Amazon's display floor and get their own row. Short and partial windows split activity into smaller slices, and those are the ones hidden in Other.
Why is a tracking ID missing from my Amazon report?
Amazon's Tracking ID summary only lists tags with activity in the selected period. A tag with zero clicks will not appear at all. Check that live links on that site actually carry the tag.
Why do my Amazon Associates earnings show $0 today?
Usually it is timing. Amazon updates most reports hourly, reports most orders within three hours, and shows earnings only through the previous day. Check the report's refresh time and look again the next day before changing anything.
Can I turn off the Other row or see the hidden data?
No setting turns it off. Amazon applies it for privacy when volume is low. The practical fix is to read longer, completed date ranges and use fewer, larger tracking IDs.
