Klaviyo Pricing 2026: Email Tiers, SMS Rates and Add-Ons.

Klaviyo now sells a modular plan: email by active profiles, mobile messages by the send, and a menu of add-ons priced on their own meters. Here is what each piece costs at the time of writing and where store owners overpay.

Klaviyo pricing in 2026 starts with a free plan for up to 250 active profiles, then an Email plan that begins at $20 a month for up to 500 active profiles and scales with your list. Text messages are billed per send on top of that, and products like Customer Hub, Reviews, Composer and the Service tools are separate add-ons with their own meters. All figures below were read from Klaviyo's US pricing page in October 2026 and change often, so treat them as prices at the time of writing and confirm your own number in the calculator before you budget.

This guide covers how the plan is built, what an active profile is, the full email tier table, mobile message rates, every add-on with a listed price, the free plan limits, and the habits that keep the bill from growing faster than revenue.

How Klaviyo Prices in 2026.

Klaviyo's pricing page is now a plan builder rather than two fixed packages. Email comes standard with every paid plan. Everything else is added product by product, and each product is priced on whatever it consumes:

  • Email is priced by active profiles, with a monthly send allowance attached to each tier.
  • Mobile messages (SMS, MMS, WhatsApp and RCS) are priced per send, by destination country and message type.
  • Customer Hub, Social marketing and Personalization are priced by active profiles and share the same profile slider as email, so a bigger list raises all of them together.
  • Reviews is priced by orders per month, Helpdesk by support tickets per month, and Customer Agent by automated resolutions per month.
  • Composer, Klaviyo's built-in assistant for building campaigns, flows and analysis, is a flat monthly add-on with usage credits.

Payment is by major credit card, managed from the account page. The practical effect of the modular model is that two stores with the same list size can pay very different amounts, depending on how many add-ons they switch on. Price the plan you will actually run, not the headline email number.

What Counts as an Active Profile.

A profile is any unique person in your Klaviyo account: a customer, a lead, or anyone who has interacted with the brand. An active profile, the unit Klaviyo bills on, is a profile that can receive marketing email. Profiles that are suppressed, such as people who unsubscribed, bounced, or were suppressed by you, do not count toward the email tier.

This is the detail that drives most surprise invoices. When Klaviyo syncs with a Shopify store, every customer and checkout email can arrive as a profile. If a store imports an old list, buys a list, or runs a giveaway that collects thousands of low-intent emails, the active profile count jumps and the account moves up a tier. Klaviyo's own pricing FAQ says an account automatically moves to a profile-compliant plan as the count grows, and recommends following its suppression guidance so you are not paying for profiles that no longer provide value.

Klaviyo Email Plan Tiers.

The Email plan is the core of every paid account. The table shows a selection of tiers from Klaviyo's calculator at the time of writing. At each tier the monthly email send allowance is ten times the profile count, so 5,000 active profiles comes with 50,000 sends a month. Above 150,000 active profiles, Klaviyo prices through its sales team.

Active profiles (up to)Monthly priceEmail sends per month
500$205,000
1,000$3010,000
2,500$6025,000
5,000$10050,000
10,000$150100,000
15,000$350150,000

50,000$720500,000
100,000$1,3801,000,000

Two things stand out when you read the full calculator rather than the selected rows. First, the steps are uneven. Some tiers cost only a little more than the one below, and others jump sharply, so a list that sits just over a breakpoint can be worth cleaning back under it. Second, the per-profile cost falls as the list grows, which makes a large engaged list cheap to email and a large unengaged list an expensive habit. At the time of writing Klaviyo was also running a limited promotion of $19 off the first month of the 500 profile Email tier.

If you need more sends than a tier allows, for example a store that emails its full list every day during a sale, Klaviyo lets you upgrade manually or turn on automatic upgrades as volume grows.

SMS and Mobile Message Pricing.

Mobile messages are not part of the email tier. Klaviyo prices them per send, and the rate depends on the destination country, the type of number you send from, and the message type. At the time of writing the calculator lists a US toll-free SMS at $0.01 per send plus carrier fees, and the page states that carrier fees are built into the rate it displays so the planned number is closer to the final cost. MMS, WhatsApp and RCS each have their own rates by country.

Email and SMS can be upgraded independently, so a store can stay on a small SMS budget while the email list grows, or the reverse. Before sending any marketing text in the US, the brand also needs proper consent language on its signup forms and a registered sending number. Those are compliance requirements, not Klaviyo settings, and they are worth settling before the first campaign rather than after a carrier blocks it.

Add-On Prices at the Time of Writing.

These are the starting points the calculator showed for each add-on in October 2026. Each one scales on its own meter, and several offer a free trial or a free allowance.

  • Composer: $20 a month, which includes four times the free plan's usage. Extra usage is billed at $10 per 1,000 credits if you allow it, and unused credits do not roll over to the next month.
  • Customer Hub: $20 a month at 500 active profiles, with a free 30 day trial. It scales with the same profile count as email.
  • Social marketing: listed at $50 a month at 10,000 active profiles, also on the shared profile slider.
  • Reviews: $25 a month at 250 orders per month, scaling with order volume rather than profiles.
  • Advanced Klaviyo Data Platform: $500 a month at 100,000 total profiles. Note that this meter counts total profiles, not just active ones.
  • Helpdesk: $185 a month at 1,000 support tickets per month, with a free 30 day trial.
  • Customer Agent: $140 a month at 200 automated resolutions per month, with 50 free resolutions to start.

Personalization, which adds predictive and RFM based targeting, is also priced on the active profile slider. Professional services and enterprise plans are quoted by Klaviyo's sales team.

What the Free Plan Includes.

The free plan covers up to 250 active profiles, 500 email sends a month, $5 of mobile messages a month, and $5 of Composer usage a month, along with built-in reporting, web forms and the drag-and-drop editor. Email support is included for the first 60 days, after which free accounts use the Help Center, Academy and Community.

The limit is firm. According to Klaviyo's FAQ, once an account passes 250 active profiles or 500 sends in a month, it cannot send more until the next billing cycle or until it upgrades. That makes the free plan a good place to build flows and test the Shopify connection, and a poor place to run a store that is actively growing its list.

How to Keep the Klaviyo Bill Under Control.

Suppress the unengaged on a schedule.
Build a segment of profiles with no opens or clicks and no purchase in a long window, such as 180 days, and suppress it each month after a final win-back attempt. This is the single largest lever on the email tier. Suppression does not lower the plan by itself: once the active count refreshes, which Klaviyo says can take up to 72 hours, choose the lower tier on the Billing page.
Run a sunset flow before you suppress.
Send fading subscribers a short sequence asking whether they still want to hear from you. The ones who click stay. The rest come off the bill without a guess about who mattered.
Check the tier before any import.
Look up where the new total lands in the calculator. If an import pushes you over a sharp step, clean the file first or send to a smaller engaged slice.
Turn on add-ons one at a time.
Add a product, measure what it returns over a full month, then decide on the next. Several add-ons share the profile slider, so a list cleanup lowers all of them at once.
Plan SMS by send volume.
Count campaign and flow texts per subscriber per month, set a send budget, and keep SMS for messages where speed matters, such as cart recovery and shipping.
“The cheapest Klaviyo plan is the one that only pays for people who still want to hear from you.”

Where the Software Stops.

Klaviyo's price is predictable once you understand the meters. What it cannot do on its own is decide which flows matter, how often to send, which segments deserve SMS, or when a list has grown faster than its value. Those are decisions about the store's margin and customer, and they belong in the same plan as paid media and the product catalog. How much does Klaviyo cost per month?

At the time of writing, Klaviyo is free for up to 250 active profiles and 500 email sends a month. The Email plan starts at $20 a month for up to 500 active profiles, is $150 a month at 10,000, $720 at 50,000 and $1,380 at 100,000. SMS and add-ons are billed on top. Check Klaviyo's pricing calculator for your exact list size, because prices change.

Does Klaviyo charge for unsubscribed profiles?

No. The email tier is based on active profiles, which are profiles that can receive marketing email. Suppressed profiles, including people who unsubscribed or bounced, do not count. Suppressing long-term non-engagers yourself is the most direct way to lower the tier you pay for, but you still need to select the lower plan on the Billing page once the count updates. The Advanced Klaviyo Data Platform add-on is the exception, since it is billed on total profiles.

How is Klaviyo SMS priced?

Per send, separately from email. The rate depends on the destination country, the sending number type and the message type. At the time of writing the calculator lists a US toll-free SMS at $0.01 per send plus carrier fees, with carrier fees built into the displayed rate. MMS, WhatsApp and RCS have their own rates.

What happens when my list grows past my Klaviyo plan?

Klaviyo's pricing FAQ says an account automatically moves to a plan that matches its active profile count. On the free plan, sending stops once you pass 250 active profiles or 500 monthly sends, until the next billing cycle or until you upgrade.
